The heart like a lamp must lead the way.

  1. Beautifully put. Other lights might go off easily, heart will never be extinguished.

    Kiss you Marty. =*

  2. It's a wonderful aphorism, Marty, and so true! Thanks for sharing.

  3. Love this aphorism Marty! I've let my head take the lead for a long time, only to realize that I had to listen to my heart. You need a good balance of both I think ^_^.

  4. Unless you're playing the stock market! I guess that's why they say people have a 'head' for business and not a 'heart.'

  5. ...except when the light flickers and goes out. And then we must hope that the heart can still find its way through the darkness.

  6. I get the sense that when the heart leads, we act out of love. It does make us more vulnerable. And perhaps enables us to take risks. All in all, not a bad thing.

  7. wonders if we could tell when the heart is telling us the right thing ... (or in this case: lead us to the right way :D )

  8. This is my favourite so far. Because I think and feel a lot like that, despite how much I get hurt. It is a rather masochist way to live, but one hopes there will be a reward someday, that the flame in the lamp will guide us in the right direction, like the reticent smile said.

  9. "be a lamp unto thyself" - Buddha

It means to be your own teacher. I think a lot of Buddhism is based on living with love and compassion - or from the heart.

  10. Goos stuff here!!! as since in looking for a lamp must lead the way you must find somthing quixomorphic like a human heart.

  13. This lovely aphorism reminded me of Carson McCuller's famous novel title. "The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter."

  15. Love this and then the lamp can be a beacon of hope and all good things.

  16. This is a lovely aphorism that will appeal to many. On one hand, it does not appeal to me on an intellectual level because in truth to make good decisions we need to balance by using both our head and our heart. On the other, it does appeal to me on an emotional level because love is a beacon and many of us are lost in our own "headspace".

  17. Glad to hear you wear your heart clearly on your sleeve and put the heart above the head and love before all.
