ReplyDeleteIf only we can be happy with plenty..
ReplyDeleteWe are fortunate to live in a world of plenty, but so often we are surrounded by others more successful or materially better off than ourselves, and comparing ourselves can be a cause of discontent. We need to take a step back and realise that being alive and well are blessings in themselves, and that so many are worse off. I agree with Vania's comment that being is more important than having.

The consumer culture we are surrounded by definitely seem to always want more be it the latest fashions, CDs, DVDs, Cars or gadgets, to have your health and the love of friends and family is all one really needs.
ReplyDeleteAgree. But I suppose it is normal. According to Abraham of the Esther and Jerry Hicks book, the fulfillment of one's desires will bring forth new desires and that it is natural and in fact, great! The universe will provide for one's desires. No one will run out of resources. It is only human thinking that has propagated the thought that things run out.

ReplyDeleteThis is so wonderful and more people should live by it. One of my mother's favorite sayins is: We should work on wanting what we have rather than having what we want. I really do agree with that too.
