And a lovely mistress she is, Marty. Will you share her with all of us? Oh, never mind--you already have.
I believe I have now gotten caught up on all that I've missed (and I did really miss reading up on your aphorisms every few days or so). Internet was very spotty on our trip--and after a while, I simply didn't open my computer so that I could enjoy every moment of my trip. And I did. I'll be writing more about it after I recover somewhat. I'm a bit jetlagged and also not feeling well due to a bad bug we picked up. But my oh my, the trip was simply amazing. Eveything I'd imagined + more.
I don't think we are capable of establishing intimacy with another person unless we are willing to speak to them heart to heart. That's why I agree with your aphorism.
Perhaps the cement that holds relationships together, the shared interests, remains fascinating and does not fade away like old flames, or young embers.
I thought the author meant he talking to himself... The easiest (and wisest) way to have many mistresses. But mind you, your mind your Wife (or your Mistresses) might still complain :):)
Perfectly stated....i have always said one on one conversations are what i am best at and i find pleasure in...but heart to heart talks have been my mistress is so much more expressive and profound ;)
Hey NP, this one made me stop for awhile and think.....made me eager to be home..with a bunch of roses and a bottle of expensive red wine. Ever heard of romancing into a heart to heart talk..

ReplyDeleteMine, too. They are the way I best connect to others. That and duct tape. ;)
ReplyDeleteHehe, those duct tape moments do bring people closer together at this time of year.
ReplyDeletePoetically put - and love would hardly exist without them.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm... speaks of quiet intimacy and something just a bit taboo. :) well done!
