"We are all ordinary people." I'm with you on this one for sure NP. We may all be unique but all of my heroes and mentors are everyday people just like me.
Thanks for pointing out this one for me Marty. Quite true. My hero was my father, an ordinary man but with extraordinary concern for his family and friends. He has been gone a good while now, but his memory reminds me of the truth of your aphorism. My best.
I'm with TT. My heroes aren't atheletes or superstars--they're friends who have picked me up when I was down, who took me in off the street and saved my life & sanity.
Ain't that the truth!?

ReplyDeleteFor sure, but what's the little tinny difference that makes them heroes, special, different?!
ReplyDeleteThis is so true. I can't name the current Nobel Peace Prize winner, but I can tell you the name of my high school Speech teacher. She inspired me!

ReplyDeleteA rare juxtaposition; a point worth pondering.

A wonderfully honest look at each of us!
ReplyDeleteLove this one too NP. My parents use to say to me, "No Big I's and Little You's.
ReplyDelete"We are all beautiful people ... until we decide to do something shameful. Otherwise the world is a beautiful place."

Therefor we are all Heroes :)
ReplyDeleteBeing ordinary, I just popped round here to be told the truth...
ReplyDeleteMy heroes are 'ordinary' people that are able to exemplify 'extraordinary' compassion and hospitality - to me and to all they come in contact with.
ReplyDeleteI'm with TT. My heroes aren't atheletes or superstars--they're friends who have picked me up when I was down, who took me in off the street and saved my life & sanity.
ReplyDeleteSo true, Marty. To me it is a reminder we all have the potential of doing something extraordinary with our lives.
ReplyDeleteThe majority of heroes are reluctant heroes. They believe they do not deserve the recognition as a hero. They believe they are just ordinary people.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marty for reminding us....
You made me smile today with this post. Yes we are all special.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, Marty--all people are ordinary--and all of us are capable of extraordinary deeds (if we allow ourselves to pursue them).
ReplyDeleteI have really missed your blog, Marty--I feel myself becoming lighter and more balanced with each new aphorism.

Very well said and I concur.
ReplyDeleteFantastic. Nail on the head.
ReplyDeleteExactly what I think. I love ordinary people and I love being myself so ordinary.
ReplyDeleteKiss you.
Yes I agree and I wrote the same thing recently. Great work....you make the art of creation effortless Neil
ReplyDeleteI see lots of heroes everyday, those nameless ones who also never knew my name.
ReplyDeleteAnd some of us are more ordinary than the rest of us can ever be.
