When Mum was staying with us a couple of years ago, one night she asked that the rest of her dinner be "put in the fridge" because she couldn't finish it. Rod asked me if I wanted an ice cream sandwich, and Mum said she wanted one too. Rod reminded her that when he was young the rule was that you got no dessert if you didn't finish your dinner.
