That's the secret of life, the "joie de vivre"!!! You know Marty, I have just realized that at least once a day I feel this newness (what can be a good start!). Every morning when I wake up and open the curtains I see, through the window, the beautiful hills called Two Brothers and they seem always new for me, no matter the good or bad weather. So, we can train to be opener to find newness in each detail of our days, because life is like a river, the water that runs on it is never the same…
NP, We Lahorians also have bad memories, that's why you see me blogging from Lahore, Pakistan. (we hear a blast today and forget it tomorrow, children and elders still smile, recreation parks, play grounds are still full of teenager players etc., Yes we are aware of the involved foreign elements as well, life goes on.)
Every day you provide us with such gems! We all have bad memories on some days. It's too soon, though, for post-its on our foreheads.
ReplyDeleteThough Alzheimer's is not humorous, I once heard it said to my mother-in-law that the upside of it is, "Think of all the new people you'll meet!"

ReplyDeleteI can certainly relate to this one... I think I may have deliberately fostered a less than reliable memory over the years for the same reason.

ReplyDeleteBest Wishes!
There's a lot to be said for a little slippage of the old wheels upstairs now and then.
ReplyDeleteHaving just gone through the memory thing with Rod's mum, I can certainly relate to this!
ReplyDeleteI am back, by the way.
It is such a blessing, you are then able to contemplate the beauty of life without any prejudice!
ReplyDeleteA new day every day could be a great thing!
ReplyDeleteI always try to live 'Just for Today'. After all, Yesterday is history, tomorrow never comes and today is a gift. That's why they call it the present.
ReplyDeleteAs long as your memory has enough length to remember the lessons you learn.
ReplyDeleteThis way you get to meet new people everyday!
ReplyDeleteI envy you.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could forget.
Ha! So a bad memory isn't necessarily bad...at least in this case. :o)
ReplyDeleteIf everyone had a bad memory the world maybe a better place.
ReplyDeleteYesterday is a dead thing so no memory of grudges, burdens, failures and pain.
Today is a new start and a chance to learn something new and to discover happiness.
