Improving The World

The only way to improve the world is by loving it.

  1. This is true, yet easier said than done when all around you see violence, confusion and terror. By acting through love and understanding, the world as you see it transforms. :)

  2. Totally agree, it is always the angry folks that do the most damage.

  4. I was raised under the Christian admonition" "Do not love the world or the things in the world. Be in the world but not of it."

The first aspect of this admonition was if I loved the world, I didn't love g-d. The second aspect was if I loved the world, I would perish with the world. And the third was that if I loved g-d instead of the world, I would be rewarded with living an eternal life with g-d forevermore.

I came to doubt the existence of a g-d and eventually decided if the Judeo-Christian construct of g-d did exist it had no relevance in my life. I rejected the admonitions aimed to elevate my presumed position as a Christian "a child of g-d", in the world ie. a position of being above the world and the unbelievers in it. I cast of the fetters of blind faith and erased the presumption that I was in any way more special than the next person in this world was. I walked away from that belief system nd found my true path and purpose in life.

I opened my mind to universal truths and I am learning to love myself with all of my flaws, to love others as I love myself, and to love the world an my place in it.

Once I conquered the arrogant assumption of my specialness, my fears dissipated and I became aware of my true place in humanity in the tapestry of the world; a complex tapestry stitched together by those who are manifesting love of others and love of life.

Currently I'm celebrating being an integral part of humanity, and enjoying the precious moments in have in this wonder-filled world, which both you and I are a part of.

  6. So true, NP. I wish more people didn't just talk a good game but really did their part. Mother Nature has given us so much.

  8. Very true, but the unfortunate thing is nobody (not even Hitler) would say "the only way to improve the world is by HATING it"...:):)

  11. Love is always a good answer. Thinking of the world as this huge thing with billions of people and hundreds of nations can make you feel pretty insignificant and powerless. However, thinking of the world as that sphere within which you interact can give you hope for making it a better place. And really, when I think of my experience within 'the world', the only part that I can truly and always affect is with the choices that I make with those that I interact with. Perhaps a localized and a naive view - but it is one that works and we can all be successful with.
