Hey, so apparently I've been banned from BC for no apparent reason. No one will tell me why, and Tony seems to want to keep me in the dark on it. Just thought I'd let you know. =/
@CWK, TT looks to have been banned also. If it were me I would go back under a different name, but that's just me.
@Marty , Yes I agree, once you have already done your best, there is nothing else to do but laugh. Unless of course you were driving a car at the time or something =)
Do my best? Sure, I will do my best to laugh when it goes wrong badly next time...but no guarantee that I won't punch you nose (too) when you think me funny and laugh (at me)... :):)
I feel most of the enjoyment comes from working on a meaningful goal. But even if it's not a sucess laughing is better than taking myself too seriously.
You spot on..This is how I most of the time describe myself..being so hardworking and doing everything to make things right..and if they go wrong..just shake it off..laugh and learn from the experience..it is still a good experience..
Your toilet’s overflowing. Your lawn mower stopped amowing. Your ‘fridgerator’s broken. Your oven, it's asmokin’. Your kitchen sink is dripping. Your credit score is slipping. Your puppy ate the phone cord. A pink slip from the school board! Think things can't get much worse? A thief just stole your purse!! LAUGH OUT LOUD!!!
Hello there, I've been a stranger for awhile as I've been soaking up summer sunshine on the beach and having goodtimes with my friends. This summer we had several minor events planned that went wrong and we laughed ourselves silly over how much importance we gave to them. In fact 2 out of 3 provided us with adventures we hadn't anticipated and that are now fond memories. I like your aphorism. It reminds me of this quote:
"Laughter gives us distance. It allows us to step back from an event, deal with it and then move on." --Bob Newhart
This is something I naturally do, but sometimes, the pressure coming from external factors such as people and my tendency to beat myself up a little too harshly, gets in the way. So sometimes, when I don't laugh, I get upset. But once the lessons learned, after a while, I do laugh, recalling it back from a safe distance.
A great recipe for living :)

ReplyDeleteI miss you guys.
Laughter truly is the best medicine because things are just bound to go wrong when we least expect it! Good one, Marty.
ReplyDeleteTrying my friend, I'm trying.
ReplyDeleteyes, acceptance is the key to happiness.
ReplyDeleteThat's always been my philosphy -- and why I laugh so much!
ReplyDeleteA healthy sense of humor helps our journey through the ups and downs of life. I laugh to myself during the defeats as well as the victories...

Ciao Marty!!
ReplyDeleteI love this one :D Laughter makes things better in a second!!
I think that needs to be on the wall of school classrooms. Failure is under-recognized as part of the learning process.
ReplyDelete"It all ends - have a good laugh - and that's that!" - Couldn't agree more!
ReplyDeleteDo my best? Sure, I will do my best to laugh when it goes wrong badly next time...but no guarantee that I won't punch you nose (too) when you think me funny and laugh (at me)... :):)
ReplyDeleteSo we exist already deserves a big smile!
ReplyDeleteTT and CWK banned ???? That is truly sad, to kill free thinking like that is truly sad.
ReplyDeleteWhen I have done my best I can laugh when it all goes wrong, but when I know I could have done better that is a very different matter.
And then try again with smile on your face.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing worse than a rumor is one that's not true.
ReplyDeleteGreat aphorism for the day. We should all do our best to live by it.
Why is it that you can get all these "nifty" comments on your blog, and nobody comments on mine I do not know!
ReplyDelete(';')!!!
ReplyDeleteI really like this one and your right laughter is the best medicine
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me.
ReplyDeleteenjoy the process..
ReplyDeletewho cares about the result..

Do you know any other species that laugh? It seems only humans laugh and laughter is good during times of trouble!
ReplyDeleteNice aphorism! Monkeys laugh, or chimps do! But they do it for subservience jestures...totally not what humans do it for...or do they?

ReplyDeleteLove this one! Been trying to treat life this way and looks like I've been doing keeping this in mind.

ReplyDeleteI find myself doing this often and people think I'm crazy!
ReplyDeleteHa! I must continue!
