At Home

Home is where you can go and relax and be nothing.

  1. Hmmm.... Not sure on this one, because I don't like 'being nothing' and honestly, home is my wife's arms. Its where the stress melts away, and we can have our own little world.

  2. This perfectly describes how I feel at home...laid back with no agendas and complete spontaneity. Actually, it's gotten to where I feel at home just about anywhere now.

  6. Like, Yun Yi, I think the "nothing" is the freedom to be be nothing but yourself. You don't have to be perfect, or fit any particular label (whether self-imposed or pressured from others) Like Dan, "home" for me is a person and not a place. Maybe because I moved 15 times by the time I was 13 years old. A suitcase can hold a lot, but not the contents of my heart.

  7. Indeed! My home is my soft place to land. It should be that way for everyone.

  12. Home is indeed a space - be it physical or mental - where we can go to be our truest selves, no pretense, no added padding. If that's what you mean by 'nothing', I agree wholeheartedly!

  13. Home is a refuge and as described in your aphorism, as much a state of mind as it is a physical place.
