My daily aphorisms. Reflections on life, death, beauty, change, love, happiness, etc., written in a poetic and whimsical style.
Perfectly true. The human emotion "love" turns into a vicious game @ times. Love is simple, people complicate it.
so true. love is simple!
Its simply amazing how human beings have created rules around the simplest, purest, most beautiful thing in the world, and made it a game so that we can win and lose.
I agree with Dan Bonser. Talking of love's simplicity, it is hard not to think of Pablo Neruda:"“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.”
Love is a many splendor'd thing.
That's why I'm so glad I'm out of the "game" and in a relationship where I can love simply and freely. It so much more gratifying!
Yes...just make sure it's "the real thing!"
Love: the universal quantifier.
I've asked myself this question so many times...what is love? I am choosing not to play a game but approach love as I'm approaching all else...with honesty. And that makes is so very uncomplicated :)
True love, in my opinion, can be in many forms and very hard to practice and obtain. "True Love" is selfless, unconditional, and self sacrificing for the other's happiness. Is it impossible? No but very rare to find and to open yourself up to give selflessly.
Yes, especially now, as the internet screams "meet singles here" and then there's speed dating and on and on.......my definition of true love is simply how long has the relationship been and how happy are the couple, but length is the most important, because it implies compromise, tolerance etc.
That's so true NP. We make love so hard for ourselves sometimes and can even push it away if we're not too careful.
The game of love is a curious thing... indeed, so much so that some take it too seriously even to laugh at it.
Ah, I wish love could be simple but I see it as more complicated. Yes, the game of love is complicated, so true, and love itself ought to be uncomplicated, but this is not always the case. However, Marty, your aphorism is a lovely thought!
Actually yes, true love is unconditional. Maybe an ideal thought - but in my own personal experience - with my daughter, with my family, a couple of close romantic relationships in the past. - I love them. Will they mess up, make mistakes, do things "I" don't want them to do? of course! I will do the same. We are human. Does unconditional love happen often? NO. Very rare to find and practice
