There is music you never hear unless you play it yourself.

  3. It is a shame so many people find it hard to be themselves, once you stop fighting it, it is the easiest thing in the world.

  4. Yes, individuality over conformity, marching to the beat of your own drum, that’s how you create your own beautiful music. I love this aphorism!

  5. That much is very true. It can even be said that since music is always heard different, any music you play even music you've heard before, it unique in its own right.

  7. (I guess I have come to this aphorism before and commented...?)

Utter truth, that! Everyone has unique footprints. You must walk before you can leave yours.

  8. It makes me think about the first time I heard myself sing on a recording. My voice sounded different than how it sounded in my head. I liked both versions, but preferred the voice in my head. There's no small amount of magic to be felt when you feel -- not just hear -- sound come from your lips. The same is true when I play the piano or guitar.

  11. That's what's so fascinating about experience, how it can be shared yet so deeply personal.

This is the reason why I write.

  13. Yes, I played the triangle solo once, and I was chucked out of school for it too.

  16. Beautiful and true. A lovely discovery to make. A terrible loss when left unheard.

  17. Yes Marty, but it's also literally true in my case, because whatever song I hear that I like, I sit down at the piano to reconstruct it. Then I add extra bits and run it into other songs that remind me of it.
As such, I'm self-sufficient, but when I play for others and they enjoy, it gives me great satisfaction.
Of course, it's symbolically true as well, but at the same time, all the music is within me, hundreds and hundreds of songs. We all have, in our myriad ways, hundreds and hundreds of things at our fingertips.
