It makes me think of the "entitled" among us...You can't expect to get what you want, you have to work for what you want. Working for what you want is a huge growing exercise, it teaches us about ourselves, our strengths, weaknesses, passions and frustrations. Without these things I don't think you would get as much out of life. So...yes! Well put!
I'm still in the process of getting this message sink into my mind, "It's God's will not yours that happens in the end" whenever I ask for His help. I still make coy overtures to him anyway. Your line teaches me not to expect to much. Thank you again!
For a moment I didn't get it, duh, then I smiled and smiled. How wonderful! Life gives so much more than we expect, if we but broaden our focus, we will feel so abundant.
I love this one...i truly do in more ways than one. There are no limitations but the limitations we put on ourselves...we can have anything we want and lots more if we didnt limit ourselves
Love this one. It reminds me of the scene in "Finding Nemo" where Dory says to Nemo's dad something like, "If you don't let anything happen to him, then well... nothing is ever going to happen to him. That sounds really boring."
witty! an open mind takes anything happen in real life.
ReplyDeleteGood point. Our little brains are way too small to grasp the true potential we have.
ReplyDeleteLife will be dull if we always got what we want : )
ReplyDeleteI think we all should be thankful for what we already have. The human race is greedy not needy.
ReplyDeleteSo true! Sometimes what we want isn't the best thing for us. We could hope for so much more, not only for ourselves but for those around us.

ReplyDeleteApparently, if we got everything we wanted...we would learn nothing.
ReplyDeleteBesides, who would do all the work?
Very well said.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say 'brilliant' and it is... but how about expecting what you want plus whatever else that's of a similar vibration or better??? :)
ReplyDeleteFor a moment I didn't get it, duh, then I smiled and smiled. How wonderful! Life gives so much more than we expect, if we but broaden our focus, we will feel so abundant.
ReplyDeleteIf we get what we expect or anticipate we are often confused or dejected at the outcome.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Some of the best things that have come into my life have come in unexpectedly and with no prior wish.
ReplyDeleteSome of the things I get, I don't want, and some of the things I want, I don't get. That's life!
ReplyDeleteYou would not recognize Benson Hwy these days. Serious urban sprawl! Thanks for the comment on my post!
I do believe that something, some power, knows what's best for me better than I do. If I only got what I wanted, I would severely be limiting myself.
ReplyDeleteor maybe get more than we expect!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like this way. It makes you pause and think about how much more there is than what you might envision.
ReplyDeleteAn expectation
ReplyDeleteis merely a precipice
over which you will surely
at some point
...fall

ReplyDeleteI agree with Miss Murphy, "Some of the best things that have come into my life have come in unexpectedly and with no prior wish." :)
ReplyDeleteAnd you have put it so brilliantly too Marty!
