Simplicity

He's the happiest who's happy being nothing.

  1. NP, I find this QUITE profound. It's much more than "ignorance is bliss" After my 'former' life of corporate sales, benefits, going to clients' kids' soapbox derbys, etc, I experienced a lot of guilt when I was dx'd bipolar and had to 'do nothing' except focus on myself - and simple mundane tasks.

Simplicity is easy. It keeps your privacy. It keeps your sanity, as long as you are something to yourself.

I also think of politicians when reading this, lol.

  2. To me, I read "nothing" as nothing false, forced or an outward label or goal... not having to be the perfect (fill in the blank.) And when you are nothing but your true self, that sounds like a very nice place to be.

  3. Society is so conditioned toward realizing one's potential and being "all that we can be," that being who we already are is never enough. Once we stop comparing ourselves to others (and our own ideals), expectations lose their importance, and we're free to just be.

  4. You may be right NP. A person who is being nothing has nobody to be responsible to except himself.

  12. The quote is a bit vague. In my own opinion, the simplest person is the happiest compared to persons who have all the riches. Of course, rich people have many concerns and much insecurity in life that they never get contented. But for simple people like me, a sunny day with family is enough.
