My daily aphorisms. Reflections on life, death, beauty, change, love, happiness, etc., written in a poetic and whimsical style.
Very nice!!
ReplyDeleteBye!
very wise! i keep it in mind:-)
ReplyDeleteTrue, things are as they are....all of it, integral to our experience. We find our happiness :)
ReplyDeleteAccepting pain as a necessary part of life - yet embracing all things beautiful. We fight so hard against the thorns and find that the rose remains out of our reach. A beautiful thought, Marty!
ReplyDeleteNo rose without thorns. No diamonds without pressure.
ReplyDeleteYeah, you're completely right.
DeleteBut I think that maturity is exactly about ability to accept the beauty of rose without pain from thorns.
I'm with you on this and I score your aphorism 10/10. I hope you don't mind me sharing this but it popped into my mind. "You are responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose. - Antoine de Saint-Exupery"
ReplyDeleteWell put truth in a beautiful metaphor...
ReplyDeleteNice one NP,
ReplyDeleteIf you never experienced the bad you would never learn to enjoy the good.
Maturity is accepting the beauty of the rose without fear of the thorns. If they stick you...so what...the rose is still beautiful and worth the risk.
ReplyDelete....eh, no pain no gain? But you still want to "gain", anyway...
ReplyDeletedeceptively simple....

in allowing ourselves to be vulnerable yet receptive, open to all experience, we see the rose for its thorns, as well as its petals.
ReplyDeleteSaying “yes” to the thorns as well as the roses, that is maturity. Nicely put, Marty!
ReplyDeleteWhatever happened to the Monday aphorism? has it decamped to the end of the week?

Ooooh. I really like this one, NP. Putting it in my pocket and patting it. :)
ReplyDeleteWisdom like this comes from many little pricks.
