My daily aphorisms. Reflections on life, death, beauty, change, love, happiness, etc., written in a poetic and whimsical style.
Absolutely true!
ReplyDeleteExcept, of course, for the happiness which results from the happiness of others whose happiness is the product of your own. :D
ReplyDeleteI do not know if it is best kind of happiness, but it is difficult to be happy for other people without being happy yourself.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It may be difficult to be happy for the happiness of others without being happy yourself. If a person can do this, his altruism is commendable.
ReplyDeleteWell said, xanthuskidd!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more, NP. Love this one!
ReplyDeleteSo true! And yet it's the kind of happiness that some struggle the most to find. :(
ReplyDeleteI love it! And I love the look on other people's faces when they can't quite trust that you're really that happy for them. It makes me happy to make other people happy.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful aphorism indeed.
ReplyDeleteVery true.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like the feeling of giving a gift or making someone's day. Their happiness makes me happy.
ReplyDeletevery beautiful words, NP, and i agree. being genuinely happy for another person's happiness might be the purest form of happiness.
ReplyDeleteTrue, nothing like being happy for each other. This is what came to my mind - Happiness, when we are in it together, is a celebration. Cheers, NP!
ReplyDeleteAnd love.
ReplyDeletenicely put
ReplyDeletei agree, because if one can feel sincerely happy for others, not only he/she double triple quadruple (etc..) his/her chances of feeling happy, but also he/she leaves no room for jealousy and hatred.
ReplyDeleteI've had many experiences of happiness and enjoying someone else's joy is definitely one of them :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a timely aphorism for me. I've just broken off a "friendship" with someone that seems to have all the traits of malignant narcissism. She has no empathy except for herself and her "altruism" is all an act to gain admiration. She also uses these "selfless" deeds as a form of manipulation to draw people into her orbit. I'm an empathetic and giving person in general, which is why she was probably drawn to me. She would secretly get a thrill from my misfortune and resent me for my happiness. She would also try to sabotage my happiness whenever she could. The complete opposite of altruism.
ReplyDeleteits so most unselfish thing..n the most difficult to achieve
