My idea of a perfect vacation would be one that had no times, dates, places, or people on the agenda. I would love to accomplish a week or even two of doing nothing - SIGH.
Aaah Marty- this is one art I have never really mastered but I do try my best to simply do nothing instead of constantly running around like a headless chicken. I've realised trying to force things forward doesn't always work. There were times when I've raced ahead of myself and found out I have to return to the parts I have skipped over. Sometimes it's important to stay in the present moment, not worrying what tomorrow will be and just allow the present moment to come alive.
While this idea may be news to many of us, it’s actually a fairly common and widely accepted principle. Deepak Chopra calls it the law of least effort. In Vedic Science, it’s referred to as the principle of economy.
The art of truly relaxing is indeed an art--and so important. Sometimes, the most healing and refreshing thing we can do--is to do absolutely nothing. The real trick is allowing ourselves to enjoy it in our work-driven society.
Beautiful....i wish i knew how to feel that way :) it is impossible, i feel guilt when i do nothing
ReplyDeleteWithout moments of nothing, one cannot enjoy the somethings :)

ReplyDeleteThe zen of things, rather the zen of not doing. Well put.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I do nothing, I always feel a little guilty--for a while.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I am ever doing nothing...because whenever I think I am doing nothing, I realize that I am thinking...and thinking isn't a nothing.. :)
