I agree with Jayme - being informed doesn't make us knowledgeable and information is meaningless if we are without understanding. Learning from experience is more valuable than learning from mere information coming from here and there.
I concur, the blogosphere is full of blogs people have time to read, and if they somehow did in some magic way, and did, they'd full their minds with a load of trivia.
I kind of like this. Reminds us that when we get too much information, we are frozen into inactivity. Kind of liking seeing all sides in an argument and therefore not having an opinion. Or something like that. I'd be more insightful, but I've spent the day reading the internet and have too little personal ram to sort through it all. I think...
My head is usually in enough of a spin on it's own - without having someone else's spin adding to the confusion! I haven't read a newspaper in over 10 years and boy, has that added to my serenity! Smiles and blessings
i really like this one np and i totally agree that too much information is absolutely harmful because it interfere our introspection - that's how it makes our mind empty. it is not too exaggerated to say that the era of information almost equal the era of ignorance.
Marty, Information to keep our minds empty. Hmmm it has kept my mind busy for 2 days rattling around different thoughts on your aphorism. It is not just information. It causes thought and more thought. Thank you for each of your aphorisms.
Ahh because an empty head can regurgitate lots of information that has gone in but has never been digested. Never being able to have an original thought themselves! Nice one!
hahahaha, Marty--I see you are still resentful of our information-driven society and that's a refreshing trait you have. :-) I'd love to truly have an attitude like yours but I'm afraid I'm a bit brainwashed through too much education (and information, damnit!).
Hi NP =) information is useless without understanding---but knowledge, is power.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jayme - being informed doesn't make us knowledgeable and information is meaningless if we are without understanding. Learning from experience is more valuable than learning from mere information coming from here and there.
ReplyDeleteHope you're well, Marty! :)

Information is different from knowledge as knowledge is different from wisdom.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful aforisms :)

My head feels empty, can't decipher what my brain sucks - just whrrrrr! Haha! Light and Peace NP!
ReplyDeleteYes information is, in this society, entertainment. But only knowledge derived from experience fills the vacuum between the ears.
ReplyDeleteOh yes - we are suffering from information overload indeed!

ReplyDeleteInformation or knowledge keep all of us busy.
ReplyDeleteIt is good to learn how to empty it.

ReplyDeleteSometimes.. it's a just an endless stream of suggestions, that keeps us hypnotized :)

ReplyDeleteNice one!
So if we're living in the Information Age, then...
ReplyDeleteIf that's the case, then I have plenty of room for information!!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of that commercial where everyone is on information overload. Creepy! Makes you really stop and think about your priorities. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteTruly said.
ReplyDeleteI love this! And I'd like to add that 'Information is often tried to be passed off as 'knowledge''. Sheesh!
