Self-Knowledge
It is hard to say anything as true about oneself as saying nothing.

Now that enters the realms of mysticism.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It is a difficult thing to do, but not impossible. It is different because part of what makes the human element is arrogance. So sometimes we allow our ego to alter what is true about us - or in other words, we tend to be boastful.
ReplyDeleteTrue, by the same token it is hard to say anything as true about another person as saying nothing (I'm serious, think about the last time [perhaps quite recent] exclaiming to your spouse: "that's GREAT!").

ReplyDeleteI agree with your aphorism. I think we are all mysteries to ourselves.
ReplyDeleteSome philosophers say, Know thyself. Others say, we only know what comes to us through our subjective senses, influences, and biases. Another might point out that we're all changing all the time. Yet some self-knowledge is necessary, whether others agree with you or not.
ReplyDeleteI do Mindful Meditation everyday and while sitting in silence, I often wonder who it is I'm listening to. But before the answer comes, time to count the next breath
DeleteGosh, I don't know about this one. Though I'm sure I have a certain amount of blindness when it comes to viewing myself, I also think I know myself better than anyone else.
