Trust

Let the river take you where you don't want to go.

  1. This is an interesting one NP. Trust isn't easy for many, nor is going into the unknown. I wish everyone, myself included, could just let things flow as free as a river.

  2. I agree with Scorp Sting - it's an interesting one.

  3. Go with the flow sometimes, even when it carries you outside your comfort zone. Better a flowing river than a stagnant pond.

  4. Nice one, Marty. More times than not, where the river has ended up taking me has been the place I needed to be, whether I'd chosen to go that direction or not. Things just have a way of working themselves out.

  5. Trusting that you're on the right path even if it's outside your comfort zone isn't always easy... I work at that daily;-)

  6. That is definitely trust. Trust in fate?

  7. Guys, when you don't know where you want to go, why don't you take a free ride? Good wisdom.

  9. Pretty much the story of my life, especially of late.

  10. As long as it doesn't take me where I absolutely never want to go, then yeah, I normally go with the flow. But every life needs a little push in the right direction.

  11. Rum-Punch Drunk has the right idea:
"Better a flowing river than a stagnant pond."

  12. Nothing wrong with swimming against the tide occasionally either.

  13. We're all on the river of life until we hopefully reach the ocean.

  14. Perfect prompt for surrendering oneself to fate!

  15. That is the definition of trust, flowing with the river because you trust where the river will take you, even if you think you don’t want to go there.

  16. Sometimes life needs to take us places we would never have chosen, but which profoundly shape us and create a depth of character that other circumstances or situations could not have done. Life in general requires a faith of some fashion - and as all rivers empty into the ocean, our paths bring us closer to each other in this mysterious experience we all share. Interesting perspective, Marty...

  17. Sometimes I forget and engage in river-fighting. Until, out of breath, I remember to trust, and suddenly start to enjoy the journey again.

  18. I'm afraid the river wants to take me over a fall. I need to see the more metaphysical side of the aphorism. Thank you as always.

  19. For us to grow as human beings, we must be willing to walk--or swim--out of our comfort zone. After all, there's a lot more possibilities in the lake the river leads into than the shallow part of the river that we're so used to staying in.
