My daily aphorisms. Reflections on life, death, beauty, change, love, happiness, etc., written in a poetic and whimsical style.
Love this! To each his own....
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! This sort of wisdom levels the playing field of judgmentalness. If everyone practiced such humility, judging others and being judged would become things of the past.
ReplyDeleteFair enough! But the world may differ.
ReplyDeleteperfect- gets your point across but makes me smile
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree, sort of. I know exactly what you're getting at, but do beliefs need "forgiving"?
ReplyDeleteAs an atheist, I get myself into all sorts of highly enjoyable arguments on the subject of belief, but I've never felt the need to forgive someone for theirs, nor solicit it for mine. Try to understand maybe, empathise with, possibly, but the only things that need forgiving are the actions justified by them.
As ever, thought provoking stuff, cheers.
"Perhaps in the eyes of God we are all heretics" (not sure who originally said this). Nice one.

DeleteMy favourite argument against the existence of God is from the sadly late, very great Douglas Adams - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmpP73-SHPQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player
ReplyDeleteOh amen to that, my brother.
ReplyDeleteThis quote reminds me of a part of the Lord's Prayer:
ReplyDeleteForgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
But we shouldn't judge that our beliefs are always less foolish than others.
Everyone believe in something foolish, the most foolish of them all would be to think you are always right.
ReplyDeleteIf we are our beliefs and accept our foolish part then it's easy to accept other people's foolish parts :-)
ReplyDeleteExcellent, Marty. Forgiveness as acceptance. Accept others as they are, not as you want them to be. Another version of "do unto others."
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile. Especially when I try to imagine it being spoken by anyone in Washington.
ReplyDeleteAwesome one, Marty. I'm with you!
