The tragedy of war can only be measured in human terms, and by that measure it's incalculable.

  1. there are no real winners in war..there are only unsung heroes.

And your brother is indeed a hero to fight for a good cause.

  2. We all need to unite as one and stop this atrocity...There are many souls who unknowingly are a part of this riot...and many others who willingly want to help these people and yet cannot reach out to them...So much needs to be done for peace in world and time...We must use blogging sources to unite the world as one and be in peace and harmony forever!!

  3. How true, of course. But how to stop it? War, like tragedy, seems so much a part of human existence....Kudos to you, NP, for remembering this day and remembering your brother. We would not make it but for people like him.

  4. The loss of one person may not seem that great in the grand scheme of things, except in the eyes of that one person's family and friends. In fact, that one person could have been another's whole world. War is such a tragedy.

  5. War is disgusting, it is the greed of one group put against the need of others to survive.

Truth is the first casualty of war, and both the invading alien and the local populous, are both in the belief they are the one playing defense.

  6. I wish I'd seen this yesterday but the words still ring true today. Did you add me to your blogroll?

  7. War too often takes more than it gives back.

  8. ...the problem is therefore finding better, and probably more creative and case-by-case rather than categorical, ways to solve human conflicts. Sometimes, finding solution is more difficult than....having wisdom.

  9. War is inside all of us. It is in almost everything we do. A"war against drugs";"a war against poverty"; a war for...you name it.
We fight for "self control"; "we battle this, we struggle with that"; "we destroy this ,and rid ourselves of that." We think in war-like concepts. So, if you wish to end war, first stop thinking of every thing in those terms...if it is possible.

  10. Absolutely with you. What a way to die. Sometimes I think Yeats summed it up nicely in his poem Irish Airman

  11. How true and how sad :(
The statistics of a loss of human life which every war brings, is a shame on those 'powerful leaders' who have ever been responsible for these wars...

  12. This is so true, Marty. Too bad that war is such a moneymaker for some industries.

  13. this is fact that little group of people who measure their crucial benefits with innocent lives are so clever and smarter then those who are always being used by them like puppets, sometime on the name of GOD and some time for the sake of saving their homelands,
