No river could flow if it had to know its destination first.

  1. Ahh another gem. It brings to mind what would happen if we knew the places our lives would take and our lives end. That knowledge would change our lives. Thank you ..

  2. To be fated to a purpose in life and to know that purpose would be soul destroying. I choose to believe everyone creates their own destiny, reading this I see you do also. Great aphorism really got me thinking.

  5. There are many end-points I can look back on that I wouldn't have necessarily wanted to venture toward at the time, but in retrospect I can see everything has happened for a reason, and oh what a great ride along the way...the journey is often more meaningful than the destination, after all...unless you're Clark Griswald ;)

  6. It would then be a lake. We'd find another use for it anyway. =)

    Kisses!

  7. To go against it's own current would make a whirlpool. I did that quite a few times in my life. :-) Wonderful aphorism today.

  8. Every major event in the river's life can change it's course.

  9. Ah, and there are still those who believe that we can control life.

  10. A river is a copious flow that must follow natural law and return to its’ beginning.

Water and lava both inherently follow the law of gravity and return to their origins following the route of least resistance.

Knowledge is something we pride ourselves on, yet we fail to accept that we are completely ignorant of the laws of motion that controls the flow of a river. Chaos reigns here.
Therefore we do not see the truth.
If life is a river, time is a torrent that sweeps away everything in its’ path.

  11. We should all be more like rivers--just drift with the direction we are drawn to.

  12. Whoa! This is the motto for my life. Enjoy the journey, the end will come soon enough. Indeed you've written another haiku for the soul.

  13. I can relax and flow...I don't need to know my destination. n.p. when you look at nature, such as a river, with open eyes, you see wisdom. Thank you.

  14. Love it, NP!

Don't think too much about life, just go with the flow.

  15. I like this. It helps to remind me that control should not be the destination.
