The Parrot

Once upon a time there was a parrot that kept repeating "happiness, happiness, happiness."  I am that parrot.

  1. Somehow I sense so much bitter-sweet in that sentence...

Really does show how much a sentence can be judged depending on the smile on that persons face.

  2. I agree with Furita, its so bitter-sweet, I think its because its past tense. Once upon a time I was happy.... Or maybe even "once upon a time, I wanted happiness." There's so many ways to read this one, makes it highly unique.

  3. Indeed you are, and you have a lot of listeners. They must like your message. :)

  4. What's the value of saying anything if it doesn't in someway reflect reality? Isn't a harsh truth better than a saccharine- sweet lie?

  5. The more you the repeat it - the more chance you have of being it!

  6. Fake it till you make it, baby...it's certainly worked for me!

  7. The bottom-line is: Are you happy? A difference between the genuine and the fake. To be truthful...common folks like me can't always be genuine, faking seems be the next best option ...:):)

  8. If the parrot exists to remind said parrot of an important truth, let the mantra flow freely! :)

  9. Usually we don't think a parrot to know what it's saying, this to me reads of the imposition that people make upon us to be happy. That is, it says nothing of whether the parrot was happy or wanted to be so, and everything about the place in which the parrot lived.

  10. When I was a kid we had some tough times. My Mom repeated her version of the happiness mantra. Despite a mountain of evidence that did NOT point to a bright future, her unshakable faith and relentless optimism made me a believer. Then somehow, things did get better. Coincidence or parrot power?

  13. Sometimes the parrot thing can be taken too far, but is this it?

  14. Loved it! Some say that love is all you need. Then again, aren't love and happiness the same thing? Cheers, NP!
