We are these bodies, these tiny capsules consumed by Time.

  2. I need to disagree as I believe the true "we" doesn't mean just flesh, blood and bones but soul too and that never gets affected by Time.

But that's only my opinion :)

  3. this is a statement that i would not simply say "yes" or "no". i think, the answers lies in how we think of our "consciousness".
to say "consciousness" is a "human only" function might be a little too arrogant, but i think, if it is not "human only", it is still a function that we humans evolved the most along the history, because not only do we "feel" - which animals might do as well; not only do we think - which animals also might do (who knows), but also we record our feeling and thinking, create bunches of things ("unnecessary necessaries") more than just foods and shelters.
so, if we take this "consciousness" as nothing more than a function of our bodies, we have no souls; but if we take this "consciousness" as something more than our bodies, we do have "souls". i tend to believe the former. however, in any cases, i don't think our "souls" would exist after bodies died.

  4. Actually Time is having trouble consuming all these tiny capsules that are getting more and more numerous in time, crying for Mayday...Who? Time or each individual capsule?

  5. Our bodies as tiny capsules consumed by Time...interesting image, Marty. Do we flow with Time as Time consumes us? Petro’s point about how the soul is everlasting and not affected by Time is also a good one. Our bodies may be tiny capsules consumed by Time but our souls flow along unaffected by Time, food for thought!

  8. The idea of self or soul is merely an illusion. Whether we look at the body or the mind, our experience is characterized by continuous birth, death and rebirth. In reality, there is no abiding entity that could be identified with a self, because the states of perception, consciousness, and mind and body constantly change. The truth is we are are born and reborn at every moment ie. we are constantly becoming. The body is mortal and when it dies, all mental activities cease. That is why there is no soul.
